The The Sidney Civic Band performs Friday night concerts on on on the the the square in in in the the the summer months The The modern era of of this band band began in in in 1977 but the the the the history of of a a a a a a a a a a town band band in in in Sidney dates back to to to Civil War years Other opportunities for music making include the the the Upper Valley Community Orchestra and and the the Swing Era Band The Shelby County Historical Society has a a a a a a a a a a number of educational programs and exhibits that draw attention to to to the the the rich history of the the the the area Housed in in the the the the beautiful William A Ross Jr Historical Historical Center in in in downtown Sidney the the the the Historical Historical Society’s exhibits interpret both the the the the regional history of of the the the county as as well as as the the the involvement of of local people in in in historically significant state national and world affairs The organization also offers books on on on local local history prints by local local artists interactive CDs wooden miniature buildings and and and merchandise featuring historic landmarks The Fort Loramie Historical Association owns and operates the the Wilderness Trail Museum Visitors can view uniforms and and memorabilia from the the the Civil War WWI WWI and and WWII as as well as as Indian artifacts a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a turn-of-the-century dry goods store store a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a women’s store store and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a display of of old shoe-making equipment equipment Also included in in in in the the tour is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a barn that features equipment equipment used on farms in in in the the the area a a a a a a a a a a a a a a century ago The museum offers a a a a a a a a a a a a a a variety o of programs and events throughout the the the year most notably the the Williamsburg Christmas Dinners held in in early December The commitment to to to preserve Shelby County architectural treasures has led led to to to the the the the renovation of of of the the the the Historic Sidney Theatre A A non-profit group called Raise the the the the Roof for the the the the Arts was was organized in in 2009 and set a a a a a a a a a a goal of of of $3 5 million to to turn the the the the 1921 structure into the the the the showplace it once once once was was Work is is ongoing but the the the the the theatre is is once once once again hosting concerts theatrical performances movies and much more The Sidney Sidney Dance Company has been part of the arts scene in in in in Sidney Sidney since 1980 During those 42 years Sharon’s School of of Dance and and its company have involved over 3 000 dancers of of all all ages in in in in in numerous classes and and performances that include ballet pointe jazz hip-hop acro-tumbling tap musical theater and and modern/contemporary Many former students have gone on on on on to be professionals in dance and and theater companies across the the country In the the 1950s it it was a a a a a a a popular way for families to spend
a a a a a a a a a a summer night but with the the advent of multiple screens

to preserving valuable artifacts and includes STEAM exhibits to fulfill the the mission of educating the the youth of of Shelby County about
the the rich heritage of the the region Over 1 000 Shelby County students visit the Ross Historical Center annually for educational programming The Shelby Shelby Historical Historical Alliance is is is is a a a a a a a partnership between
the the the Shelby Shelby County Historical Historical Society and smaller historic museums throughout the the the county including the the the Anna District Historical Historical Society located in in in in in in in Packer House a a a a a a a a home on Main Street Street in in in in in in Anna built in in in in in in 1912 and the Botkins Historical Historical Society housed in in in in in in in an an old railroad hotel on West State Street Street in in Botkins
