helby County is made up of 14 townships with a total population just under 50,000. According to the 2010 census, roughly 21,000 of these residents live in the
city of Sidney, the county seat.
The village communities of Shelby County are
welcoming havens for those who like a small-town atmosphere. Anna, Botkins, Fort Loramie, Houston, Jackson Center, and Russia each have their own school systems and business districts. Other villages like Port Jefferson, Lockington, and Kettlersville are a collection of houses built around a few central buildings or churches. All have mayors and village councils.
